Katy Kartwheel: Biography

Katy Kartwheel is an English Actress and Circus Performer. She was a keen gymnast as a child with a love for Drama and the Arts. At age 17 she won a scholarship to train with Zippo's Circus and spent the season touring and performing Tightwire and Aerial Hexagon in the big top. Katy is best known for her role as the body and stunt creature performer "Rio Durant" in Solo, A Star Wars Story, working alongside the lead cast including Woody Harrelson. She was an integral part of the Star Wars creatures department under BAFTA award winner Neal Scanlan having previously secured roles in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Katy has performed with top UK companies Aircraft Circus and Gorilla Circus, specializing in Doubles Trapeze, Fire, Hula Hoops, Aerial Rope and Acrobalance. Katy is thus a multi-skilled circus artist, credits include: Glastonbury festival, Wilderness festival, Britain's Got Talent, BBC Children in Need and countless local festivals, events and parties in the South East. Katy set up Katy Kartwheel's Circus Passion, to share with her community the many benefits of Circus Arts; offering a unique mix of Circus Parties, Family Entertainment, Circus Performance, Circus Workshops and Aerial Tuition. Alongside her career, Katy has 3 beloved children and in 2022 gained a BSc Psychology degree with First Class Honours from Oxford Brookes University. Katy's knowledge of Psychology is woven into her teaching, as such she is able to work with children and vulnerable adults using circus as a therapeutic tool. |
